At the Top
I watch the TV to see people living lives I'll never lead
Waiting for 7:30, so I can get to the drive through, after the traffic tames a bit
Stomach growling, wish I had some food right now
The phone rings, but I don't answer
I wish I had someone to talk with
You see my amazing art life online?
Not even 1% of my life
They say a picture says a thousand words, but does it really?
A picture of my art piece says that I spend 14 hours a day
Alone & problem solving, without solving my problems?
In person my art piece says more
Every millimeter of texture I've painstakingly sculpted
Every finger print I've brushed away with hundreds of crosshatch wet brush strokes.
Each stroke becoming gentler and dryer, until all that's left is a glassy smooth surface
The thick paint strokes accentuating the flat coats of spray
The tiny glossy eyeballs.
The brown wash turning the countless colors into mud,
Only to be scrubbed away, truly showing every pit and dash of sculpted texture
Does the picture tell you all that?
Do you see my soul in the eyes of my creation? In each layer of skin, or scales, or fur or nails?
Do you see ME?
Or would you rather have another stormtrooper?
